What if faith and having questions about it aren't enemies of each other. What if they are instead a deep form of devotion — a seeking for truth.
Loving our faith sometimes means questioning, seeking truth and telling our beliefs uncomfortable realities — so that our faith can be more truth-based, more genuine, more able to be all God intended it to be.
The questions didn't go away — they increased. And that set us on a journey of discovery that led us all the way back to Christ, the apostles, and the earliest church fathers. Questions like:
- What did Christ actually teach and model to his disciples?
- What did the early church believe and how did it function before it became institutionalised?
- What doctrines taught in today's church would have been seen as heretical to Jesus and the early church Fathers — and what does the Bible really say about those things?
- How have translations over the years altered the meaning of the original verses?
These are just a few of the questions we had. Over the years we conducted our own research and read others' research. We then compiled it all in a database, which formed the content for this website. We're not finished asking questions or doing research, and as we discover more we'll keep adding to the site.
How does this relate to you?
If we are all honest with ourselves, we all have questions. We all have those little niggly thoughts that go — but what about…
Maybe you've been told not to ask so many questions. Maybe you've felt alone in asking them. That's why this site exists — so you can know you are not alone. There are thousands like us around the world, seeking truth and a more authentic Christianity.
What if your honest questions are not rebellious, but a way of loving the church enough to demand truth — and help it become all it should be?
What would being able to ask those honest, heartfelt questions do for you personally, and for the church at large?
