Calvinism says that God is not willing, and does not desire to save all of His children. John McArthur - “God purposely created most people to be damned forever, and that gives God great glory.”
Arminianism says that God desires to save everybody but that He cannot, and will not, infringe on man’s free will, even if that person is uninformed, self destructive, suicidal, can’t comprehend, has emotional problems. All that God can do is offer to man the opportunity to be born again.
These are two theologies that two men developed in the 1500s. Hell was the lynchpin for gaining converts and keeping converts.
