Death is not the end of choice.
While there is no verse of Scripture affirming, in clear terms, the specific possibility of persons in hell receiving further opportunities for repentance, neither is there any passage denying this possibility. In fact, there are very few verses saying anything at all about postmortem conditions. Even Martin Luther expressed openness to this prospect, in a letter he wrote to Hanseu Von Rechenberg, in 1522. Luther wrote: “God forbid that I should limit the time of acquiring faith to the present life. In the depth of the Divine mercy there may be opportunity to win it in the future.”
